چکیده

The most commonly used analysis method in performance-based design (PBD) is nonlinear static (NSA). In unsymmetrical 2D frames, unlike for the symmetrical state, NSA should be performed two lateral loading directions. This complicates process of achieving a feasible optimal addition to increasing volume calculations. this study, overcoming issue, two-step approach proposed PBD steel moment-resisting frames (SMRFs). approach, independent steps, structure analyzed with pattern based on first mode shape positive and negative implementation second step conditional satisfactory completion step. objective function takes into account differences between successful unsuccessful steps. constraints considered are acceptance criteria SMRF according FEMA-356 at each performance level. effectiveness has been investigated by employing four meta-heuristic optimization algorithms determine optimum case studies structures having three nine stories.

Performance-Based Plastic Design of Moment Frame-Steel Plate Shear Wall as a Dual System

Steel Plate Shear Wall (SPSW) is an emerging seismic load-resistant system that, compared to other systems, enjoys the advantages of stable ductile behavior, fewer detailing requirements, rapid constructability, and economy. American seismic provisions decree that a SPSW should be designed as a moment frame with a web infill plate. Specifically, in case of buildings taller than 160 ft, it decre...

PERFORMANCE-BASED DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF STEEL MOMENT FRAMES

This study deals with performance-based design optimization (PBDO) of steel moment frames employing four different metaheuristics consisting of genetic algorithm (GA), ant colony optimization (ACO), harmony search (HS), and particle swarm optimization (PSO). In order to evaluate the seismic capacity of the structures, nonlinear pushover analysis is conducted (PBDO). This method is an iterative ...

PERFORMANCE BASED DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF STEEL MOMENT RESISTING FRAMES INCORPORATING SEISMIC DEMAND AND CONNECTION PARAMETERS UNCERTAINTIES

One of the most important problems discussed recently in structural engineering is the structural reliability analysis considering uncertainties. To have an efficient optimization process for designing a safe structure, firstly it is required to study the effects of uncertainties on the seismic performance of structure and then incorporate these effects on the optimization process. In this stud...

Performance Evaluation of Curved-TADAS Damper on Seismic Response of Moment Resisting Steel Frame

In this study, the performance of triangular added damping and stiffness (TADAS) dampers combined with curved dampers (Curved-TADAS damper) is evaluated in moment resisting steel frame (MRSF). These dampers are passive and install in the beam-column connection region. Variable parameters of this study involve the width of curved damper (50, 75 and 100 mm), the thickness of TADAS damper (5 and 1...

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF STEEL MOMENT FRAME STRUCTURES USING THE GA-BASED REDUCED SEARCH SPACE (GA-RSS) TECHNIQUE

This paper proposes a GA-based reduced search space technique (GA-RSS) for the optimal design of steel moment frames. It tries to reduce the computation time by focusing the search around the boundaries of the constraints, using a ranking-based constraint handling to enhance the efficiency of the algorithm. This attempt to reduce the search space is due to the fact that in most optimization pro...
